Cartridges: An Essential Partner for Various Work Environments

Cartridges: An Essential Partner for Various Work Environments

Fumes produced by the welding process have the potential to be dangerous for worker safety and hygiene. However, there are filtering options that promise a more secure and hygienic workplace.

The pollutants produced decide which filter is best based on a number of factors, including the kind of welding (TIG, MIG/MAG, electrode, and others), the material (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, and others), the hours worked, the thicknesses, and the previous operations before welding.

Occasionally, traditional cartridges like polyester or anti-static polyester can be used, particularly in TIG welding where fume production is often minimal.

More efficient filtration is needed for carbon steel wire welding processes that involve more intensive processing, larger thicknesses, and a higher concentration of emitted fumes. Consequently, we move to Teflon-coated polyester or anti-static polyester cartridges, which help the expulsion of the pollutant during counter current cleaning.

The Teflon membrane, which "waterproofs" the cartridge and guarantees maximal particle separation during air-compressed cleaning, is advised for use in more demanding and heavy-duty applications. It should be noted that the selection of fabric needs to strike the correct balance with the rate of filtration. In actuality, the filtering selection parameters may change significantly between a MIG welding of stainless steel on 10 mm thickness and a TIG welding of carbon steel on 2 mm thickness (keep in mind carcinogenic fumes).

While selecting the right capture is essential to removing the pollution close to the operator, we also don't undervalue the importance of filtering these emissions. Maintaining a healthy working and outside environment is top priority.
